The Woolworth Apartments & Street-Level Retail

The overriding objective of this project was to maintain the integrity of the building’s historic significance in downtown Riverhead. To that end, W.J. Northridge carefully restored the beautifully ornate Art Deco lobby to its original splendor. W.J. Northridge also had to create residential space and all that entails, such as drainage, sanitary, and utilities, in a former retail setting.

W.J. Northridge added a second floor to the building to accommodate 19 residential units. In addiition, the single old storefront was renovated to provide 4,582 square feet of retail space for four new stores at street level.
