W.J. Northridge, serving as construction manager, continues their long standing relationship with the Teacher’s Federal Credit Union. Ground was broken in early April for the construction of another new branch that will continue to give the TFCU patrons the unique interior layout that they have learned to identify with. TFCU continues to expand its presence in Suffolk County, Long Island. WJN is pleased to be associated with TFCU and looks forward to completing another successful branch with them.

Update: Nassau BOCES – Greenvale

Breaking out of our unusually wet and cold winter, structural steel is now being set for the 10 million dollar expansion/renovation program at Nassau BOCES – Greenvale. W.J. Northridge in conjunction with Ehasz Giacalone Architects, P.C. are creating a “cutting edge” Education Center for the Nassau BOCES – Alternative Learning Program. Despite the harsh winter conditions, construction remains on schedule with a completion date projected for late fall 2010. WJN serves as Construction Manager for this exciting program.

Recently one of our firm’s principals, Frank DarConte, returned from his first trip to Anchorage Alaska, Mt. McKinley, and the Yukon. Along the way, he met a young woman, Michelle Phillips, of Tagish Lake Kennels, and received an introduction to the world of long distance sled dog racing. Michelle is currently one of the World’s top long distance women mushers and her goal fro the 2010 season is to be the top woman and top rookie in the renowned Iditarod race. Among our firm’s charitable endeavors is the support of the 5th Annual New York Building Homes for Heroes Gold Classic at Hempstead Golf and Country Club. The event was a tremendous success, raising over $68,000 for the severely wounded men and women of the military. Building Homes for Heroes provides individuals, corporations and others with an opportunity to help our severely wounded and disabled veterans and families to rebuild their lives. We believe that it’s our responsibility to support those who have been called upon to make the ultimate personal sacrifice to protect and safeguard our country.

Trade Contractor Awards Completed for Nassau Boces - Greenvale

W.J. Northridge Construction has recently completed the Bid Award Process for the upcoming Building Program for Nassau BOCES at Greenvale, N.Y. The 10 million dollar expansion/renovation program will create a “cutting edge” Education Center for the Nassau BOCES - Alternative Learning Program. Groundbreaking is expected to commence the summer of “09” with completion targeted for the winter of 2010. W.J. Northridge is pleased to serve as Construction Manger for this exciting project. Ehasz Giacalone Architects, P.C. is the Project Architect.

Construction Underway For The New Nassau University Medical System (NUMC) Freeport/Roosevelt Clinic

W.J. Northridge Construction has recently commenced with the construction of a new “State of the Art” Medical Clinic for the Nassau University Medical Center. This new facility will provide residents of the Freeport and Roosevelt communities with a large array of services including Primary Care, a Dental Suite, Imaging Center, and Institute for Minority Health. Serving as General Contractor, WJN leads a team of trade contractors which includes significant W/MBE participation. Construction is expected to be completed by late fall of 2009. Gilbane Building Corp. serves as the project’s Construction Manager.

Construction Begins At The New Recreational/Educational Building For The Huntington Assembly of God Church

Acting as the Construction Manager for the church, W.J. Northridge is working hand-in-hand with the congregation’s building committee and Hoffman/Grayson Architects to insure a quality facility while still meeting the church’s strict budgetary requirements. The building, comprising of a pre-fabricated structural steel frame and standing seam roof structure by CECO, houses a multipurpose gymnasium/assembly hall, modular classrooms and a kitchen/café. In addition to the new building, the church site will get an overall with new site lighting and a parking lot throughout its whole campus.

Project highlights include an Alucobond exterior skin, new elevators and a high end interior build out complete with custom millwork and stonework Medical Action Industries Inc. is a leading provider of disposable medical products, responsible for developing, manufacturing and distributing their products to major Healthcare providers. They are currently the leading manufacturer/distributor of operating room disposable supplies, containment systems for medical waste, minor procedure kits and trays, bedside products and disposable supplies for medical laboratories.

WJ Northridge has signed on with the Bank of Smithtown to construct their new branch in Port Jefferson, NY. Architect Mojo-Stumer designed this building using unique modern materials. The shell of the building is a combination of standard metal framing, Terracotta paneling and the glass Pilkington Planer Insulating System.
With over 15 branches, the Bank of Smithtown is a premier community bank who has been in business for almost 100 years. WJ Northridge will be providing our general contracting services.

GMATS partners with WJN for Management

Global Maritime and Transportation School (GMATS) has welcomed WJ Northridge aboard to provide program management services for their new five story facility located on the US Merchant Marine Academy campus in Kings Park, NY. The primary building layout involves classrooms and a conference center on the first floor, 120 lodging rooms on the second, third and fourth floors and lodging suits on the fifth floor. The initial plan also includes a below grade parking level under the building.
GMATS is a World leader in providing professional education in maritime security, intermodal transportation and logistics. They offer individuals programs and seminars designed for state continuing education credit and specific field certification.
Design review, cost estimating /value engineering, and creating a project master schedule are some of the services WJ Northridge is providing for GMATS in the pre-construction phase. We are also investigating the potential of using solar and geothermal energy to help achieve a LEEDS Silver status.
